Corporal David McDaniel is assigned to Sector 2, an area which covers the northwest portion of Lake County from Leesburg to The Villages.
Corporal McDaniel has been employed with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office since 1995. In addition to his duties in Uniform Patrol, he is also a member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.
Some months back, while on duty, Corporal McDaniel located a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle Lady Lake Police Officers attempted to stop for reckless driving and possible intoxication. Corporal McDaniel turned around to ty to verify the partial tag, however because the vehicle was traveling at such a high rate of speed, the driver was not able to negotiate a curve in the road, went airborne and struck several trees. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and found unresponsive under the vehicle that was being held up by a tree. With the assistance from other deputies who arrived on scene, Corporal McDaniel moved the driver to a safer location to begin working on him. By opening the airway and controlling the driver’s movements, the Deputies were able to get spontaneous respirations. Corporal McDaniel continued to assist with respirations until EMS and Fire arrived on scene.
Corporal McDaniel takes great pride in the performance of his duties and is a true asset to the Lake County agency.
