Lieutenant Kevin Farr serves at the Senior Lieutenant for the City of Newberry Fire Department. Lieutenant Farr has been employed by Newberry Fire Department for 18 years. During his career, Lieutenant Farr has earned state certifications as Driver Operator, Fire Officer I and Fire Safety Inspector I.
Lieutenant Farr consistently produces a high quality work product, leads by example, displays compassion for the citizens and visitors we serve, and is at the forefront in offering ideas and solutions for greater safety and efficiency within our department.
In September 2014, Lieutenant Farr and the crew of Engine 28 responded to a gunshot patient. While in route, dispatch upgraded the call to two gunshot victims at the location. Engine 28 staged in the area awaiting law enforcement to secure the scene. Lieutenant Farr and the crew of Engine 28, using the apparatus as cover and armed cover from law enforcement personnel, safely removed the first gunshot victim, who had multiple gunshot wounds, from the scene. The crew on Engine 28 then returned to the scene to extract the second gunshot victim.
The swift and decisive actions of the crew on Engine 28, under the direction of Lieutenant Farr, in September 2014 resulted in a positive outcome for both gunshot victims. The ability of Lieutenant Farr to maintain focus and safely direct his crew during this Active Shooter incident is a credit to his preparedness and professionalism. Lieutenant Farr’s actions that day distinguishes him as a great asset to the Fire Service and the citizens and visitors of the City of Newberry.
