Lieutenant Misty Woods best embodies a firefighter who goes above and beyond their required job functions at Alachua County Fire Rescue. Lt. Woods began her career with ACFR as a Rescue Lieutenant in 2004 and has risen through the ranks to her current position of Suppression Lieutenant. She has matured and expanded her role far beyond those first tenuous steps. She continues to grow and show the kind of dedication we should all try to emulate.
Currently Lt. Woods is Lieutenant/ Paramedic assigned to Engine Company 19, one of the busiest engine companies in the area. She has shown her ability to work with subordinates who need extra assistance. She has taken on challenges such as representing the department for promotional process outside the department. She has had an active role in the hiring process within the Department and has assumed the lead role for the Department’s Recruitment Program. Lt Woods’ efforts in this role combine her talents to increase the Fire Rescue exposure to future recruits. She does all of these extra things while maintaining her crew’s ability to meet the challenges they face on a day to day basis. She is a strong officer and dedicated leader who embodies the best of our personnel, our department and our community.
